CSR STATEMENT

Purpose

At nat'v basics we believe that social responsibility is not merely a compliance issue, but a core part of our ethos and the reason for our existence. Comfort is not just about the physical touch of our materials on your skin. We aim to offer our customers an experience of comfort in knowing that they are making a responsible choice for people and planet. We also strive to ensure the comfort of all the contributing members of the production and supply chain that result in our nat'v basics products.

The essential characteristic of social responsibility is the willingness of an organisation to incorporate social and environmental considerations in its decision making and be accountable for all impacts of its decisions and activities on society and the environment (International Standard - ISO 26000 - Guidance on Social Responsibility 2010, Clause 3.3.1.).

Statement and Assessment

Our company’s social responsibility falls under four key categories: Protection of the Environment; Human Rights; Supporting the Less Fortunate; Learning and Contributing to Knowledge.

All of our suppliers are hand selected and rigorously tested to ensure they comply with our social responsibility principles. We meet with our suppliers prior to doing business and maintain regular contact through the delivery cycle. We also rely upon the assessment of Third Party International Auditors of Social Performance In Global Supply Chains (i.e. amfori BSCI https://www.amfori.org/).

A summary of each of our four key categories for social responsibility and how we maintain compliance with our principles is as follows:

Protection of the Environment

All the materials used in nat'v basics products are selected to minimise energy, carbon and water footprints, as well as reducing waste generation.

Wherever possible we use recycled material for our products and our packaging. We ensure that new fabrics are generated with the least possible waste and most efficient usage of raw materials.

We only use suppliers that strictly comply with environment protection laws and regulation, as demonstrated by Third Party International Auditors. We also aim to select suppliers with procedures in place (above the legal minimum) to protect the environment and save energy, such as alternative electricity sources and rainwater harvesting.

Human Rights

Delivering an authentic level of comfort to our customers is dependent upon the comfort of our employees and all members of our supply chain. We strive to offer the highest of working conditions for our people, regardless of their position or contribution.

We strictly ensure that all suppliers demonstrate proof of acceptable behaviour in the following key indicators (as assessed by Third Party International Auditors):

  • Workers Involvement and Protection
  • The rights of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
  • No Discrimination
  • Fair Remuneration
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • No Child Labour
  • Special protection for young workers
  • No Precarious Employment
  • No Bonded Labour

Supporting the Less Fortunate

We know that not all women of the world will have the ability to access nat’v basics products, and some may be without any level of personal hygiene or sanitation products.

We are committed to supporting charities and organisatons that provide relief and aid to vulnerable members of the community.

Learning and Contributing to Knowledge

The world is in a time of transition, where we as a global community are waking up to the realisation of how much damage we have already caused to the environment and ourselves. We are all in need of new and better practices.

At nat'v basics we are committed to research and development into the usage of recycled and re-usable materials. We will strive to minimise single use, non-degradable material to the best of our ability.

Our products also fit into part of a larger global attitude toward environmental awareness and positivity that we are committed to fostering via our online presence and interactions with others.
