We’re more than a little bit excited to share some news with you about our latest partnership…. Drum roll please…. 🥁🥁🥁
It’s Greenspark!
“Green Who?” you may be asking.
Fair enough, you may not have heard of them if you don’t run an eCommerce store yourself, so here’s a little intro to what they do, how they do it, and why we think they’re the bee’s knees!
What is Greenspark?
Greenspark is a tool that connects with our online store, and enables us to donate to climate action projects every single time our customers (that’s you!) order some undies.
Why is Nat’v Partnering With Greenspark?
We’ve always supported organisations and initiatives that vibe with our core values - and will continue to do so.
We’ve Offset the carbon emissions from our shipping, planted trees and donated to charities such as Oz Harvest and Thread Together.
But now with Greenspark, we can embed ‘giving back’ into the fibre of our business in an automated, transparent and trackable way that we can easily share with our customers (that’s you again!).
What Will The Impact Be?
Two issues that are very close to our hearts at Nat’v are deforestation and plastic pollution - after all, our undies are made out of (sustainably sourced) wood, and recycled plastic.
By partnering with Greenspark we can really ‘put our money where our mouth is’ and donate directly to initiatives that either plant trees or pickup plastic trash before it enters our oceans and water
Here’s a few of their ‘Projects That Fight The Madness’ we’re super proud to be able to support:
Eden Reforestation Projects
Fighting Extreme Poverty Through Tree Planting
Eden Reforestation Projects is on a mission to combat deforestation by employing local communities to plant trees, providing an empowering means to alleviate extreme poverty through environmental stewardship.
Plastic Bank
Transforming Plastic Waste Into Empowering Income
Plastic Bank® builds ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal communities while simultaneously creating positive economic opportunities for those who helped collect it.
UN Project 5016
Reforestation in Rural India
Supporting reforestation projects and economic opportunity in rural East India.
Greenspark x Nat’v Basics: Enabling True Transparency
The big ‘T’.
One of our favourite words and something we pride ourselves on - being transparent.
It’s the thing that sets brands doing the right thing apart from the ones who wanna just look like they’re doing the right thing.
At Nat’v Basics, we’re an open book, baby. Ask us any question and we’ll tell you no lies.
We want to be transparent about everything, but continually updating documents and webpages to show information that is out of date the minute it is published, is inefficient and frustrating.
So when we discovered Greenspark, and the fact that we can now have dynamic widgets (geek speak for true, live numbers showing our impact on the Nat’v website), we knew this would be a game changer.
We can track our impact at a global level as part of the Greenspark community, and at a Nat’v Basics ‘family’ level (that’s the sum total of all our donations on all our customers' behalf). And, what’s super cool about this tool is, as a loyal customer, you can track your unique contribution over time, too.
But it’s not just us that is kept accountable by being transparent - Greenspark themselves are all about the big T. They have a Public Ledger that shows all of their carbon, plastic and tree partner receipts, so anyone can see, at any time, where the money goes.
How does it work?
Well, it’s delightfully simple! Everytime you order from Nat’v Basics, we give Greenspark enough money for them to plant a tree on your behalf.
In the future, we might switch things up a bit, so instead of a tree being planted, a plastic bottle is picked up on your behalf, or maybe even a combo of both!
But whatever the ‘Impact’ we’re supporting is at any given time, rest assured, when you order from us, you’ll know exactly how supporting our little Aussie brand is having a direct and positive impact in the real world.
You can track our collective ‘Nat’v Basics family’ progress by checking out our live feeds across the website, or heading to our Greenspark page h
Best of all, if you’re really chasing some warm fuzzies, you can see how joining the global community of Greenspark businesses has had a positive social and climate impact around the world.
